<p>Healthier cooking is all about how cooking light can improve your health without producing boring or unattractive food. Today, more emphasis is being put on reducing our calorie intake and eating foods that are better for us. In order to achieve this we need to look at cooking lighter which need not be difficult.</p>
<p>Cooking lighter is easier today as many of our staple foods now have a light version. For example, cheese is now being made with alternative milk such as goats milk, skimmed milk is also used now too and these alternatives do  not affect the flavor at all. Butter can be eliminated by substituting with low fat spread to reduce calorie intake significantly. It is important to make sure that you are eating the right fats and avoiding trans fats where possible.</p>
<p>Dressings are particularly high in all the wrong things so try a low fat mayonnaise or fat free ranch dressing in your sandwiches. Avoid using foods coated in oil, many types of tinned fish are now packed in water rather than oils, this significantly reduces your calorie intake.</p>
<p>If you eat a lot of refined white bread then you will not be getting the fiber you need and your fat intake will be high. When choosing bread go for the oat-based alternative or the 100% whole grain variety. Just because bread is brown does not mean it is healthier for you. By taking a true whole grain alternative your body will get an increased intake of fiber and lower amounts of fat.</p>
<p>The oil you use for cooking is also an important part of your lighter cooking style. Extra virgin olive oil is ideal but can be expensive a cheaper alternative is Canola, which has lots of health benefits when compared to vegetable oils.</p>
<p>When baking use a low calorie sweetener in place of sugar. Line your baking tins with a no fat cooking spray and use dark chocolate instead of milk. All of these are good alternatives for cooking light.</p>

<p>Suppose you could find a diet plan that didn&#8217;t require that you eat only salads for the rest of your life or that you virtually starve the weight off?  That would be a great plan for sure.  Now you have heard that &#8220;come on&#8221; before because we have all seen commercials for wonderful and expensive pills that supposedly let you eat all you want and the pills just melt the fat away.</p>
<p>So we have to be careful we don&#8217;t get hooked into some diet plan that isn&#8217;t realistic at all.  Those pills that you can buy come with a lot of hidden problems.  Mostly they either run your metabolism up so you &#8220;shake and sweat&#8221; the weight off without doing any exercise or they change your digestion so fatty substances are processed through which causes all kinds of odd behavior in your lower intestines.  These pills mostly make you feel sick or edgy all the time and many times they account for little or no weight loss after you went to all that trouble.</p>
<p>But we can get away from the hype with no results programs by looking to a natural diet plan that actually works called the &#8220;calorie shifting diet&#8221;.  This plan doesn&#8217;t disrupt your system by making you sweat fat off or purge food artificially out of your body after have eaten it.  But what it does do is to use a natural approach to balance and harmony in not only what calories you can eat but in when you eat them to use the metabolism the way it was designed to work to keep you thin and healthy.</p>
<p>The great thing is this diet plan is that it doesn&#8217;t require you to drastically cut calorie intake. As soon as the diet fails to live up to expectations, it&#8217;s tempting to run back to our comfort foods.  Low calorie diets like Weight Watchers creates a whole new hobby for you to track and record your foods and the outcome is very slow weight loss and frequent plateaus which makes it easy to get discouraged as well.</p>
